Battlestar Galactica Auction

Who said, “Money can’t buy happiness?” They obviously didn’t attend the Propworkx Battlestar Galactica Props and Costume Auction. Geeky grins were everywhere, including my girly mug. Upon entering the convention center my eyes landed on the Raptor, the Viper, and the Man (Ron Moore). This was the beginning of a great day!
Props and set pieces were staged for viewing. Friday was spent perusing auction items and attending panels by many behind the scenes masterminds: Richard Hudolin (Production Designer), Kend Hawryliw (Prop Master), Jonathan Lancaster (Set Decorator), and Glenne Campbell (Costume Designer).
Not only were props and costumes on display, but you were able to request a closer look. Items were brought out of display cases or off of hangers for a more detailed inspection. This alone was worth the trip to Pasadena.
BSGCast.com put on a rockin BSG Final Frak viewing party with food, drinks, and cast members Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh), Luciana Carro (Louanne ‘Kat’ Katraine), Richard Hatch (Tom Zarek), and Science Advisor Kevin Grazier).
The only downside of my days at the auction, was not succeeding in sitting in the Viper or the Raptor. Only Propworx VIPs, volunteers, and geeks who spent extremely large amounts of money were able to claim that honor. While the Viper and Raptor did not sell in the initial auction, rumor has it that a deal was brokered after the fact and they were indeed sold. Here’s to hoping a science fiction museum grabbed them and soon all BSG geeks will be able to don their flight suits and have a moment of silence in a Viper.
