Babes of Sci Fi

The DISCOVERY SCIENCE website (why, WHY, why) posted the top hottest alien women.  (Thanks to Nat for the link, and I totally agree number 8 is, well…awesome and weird, mostly weird.)

My list of hottest Sci-Fi men you ask?  You didn’t?  Too bad.  Christy will back me up on this one.

HONORABLE MENTION!

Pre-Girdle Post-Beard Riker: Oh man, will he and Troi EVER get it together? (I thankfully never saw the last movie.) Besides, I kid, I’m a Picard-when-he-quotes-Shakespeare-and-plays-the-flute kinda woman.

Every Main Male Under Forty Cast Member of Battlestar: Cause there are plenty of them, and I didn’t want to take up the entire list with the obvious.

I tried to pick only one from each ..read more

MWI: Mowing while intoxicated

Someone find Kile Wygle and tell him to come see me. I want to shake his hand. Well, not so much for drunk driving, but for what he was driving.

Wygle had deconstructed a lawn mower, strapped a bar stool to the top of it, and tacked on a motor capable of reaching 38 miles per hour.

All I know is that when this puppy his the American motor markets, I will be first in line. Matter of fact I think we have just found how exactly to save the dying auto industry. Well done Kile Wygle.

And when I do have my very own Motostool, I will park it in the ..read more

Even Obama’s sad BSG is over

The Onion is always spot-on, but this is quite possibly the funniest satire I’ve read from them all month. What makes it work, as always, is their penchant for research (in this case, tapping into the heads of BSG fans) — so go read it, ..read more

Tron sequel may be called Tron; Hollywood may have a brain

Tuesday
5:17 pm

The folks at Slashfilm are reporting that the upcoming Tron sequel/reimagining may not, in fact, be given a completely stupid name.

The test footage at last year’s Comic-Con was originally titled TR2N, which makes me throw up a little in my mouth every time I type it. Next up was a brief period when it was known as TRZ. After that, it claimed the slightly-less-stupid-but-still-overused Tron 2.0. But during last week’s Disney presentation at Showest, the new logo was just Tron.

Just Tron. I’ll totally take it.

Why I’ve totally fallen in love with ‘Kings’

With BSG off the air (what? You didn’t know?), I’ve been asking The Internet what I would replace it with. The suggestions have been numerous. Among the contenders were Big Bang Theory (not bad, but a sitcom doesn’t scratch my drama itch) and Odyssey 5 or Jericho (too big of story arc cancelled too soon).

Nothing was particularly satisfying. So I turned to reruns of old favorites.

I’d been getting by on a mealy diet of Arrested Development rewatching (a show so reusable that it should come EnergyStar approved) and a halfhearted attempt to rewatch Cowboy Bebop.

And then The Internet started suggesting Kings. It came from every corner of my Venn Diagram ..read more

Family Guy meets ST:TNG

Monday
10:56 pm

So anyone else catch Sunday’s episode of Family Guy? You know the one where that reunited the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Even Denise Crosby was there. Ahhh, good ole Tasha Yar.

Hilarious! Stop reading now if you don’t want spoilers. Wait…can you have spoilers for an animated show that has no serial story line? Well, if you can, like I said, stop ..read more

Colonies vs UN

I know I’m a little late on this, but it turns out the UN had a Battlestar Galactica night.  There are two things I like about this.

-yay!

-Guinan was the host.

If The Next Generation was the UN in Space, it begs the question of what BSG was.  But let’s not degrade ourselves with allegories when symbolism is so much more ..read more

Lorne moves on to his next life

Sad news for all you Whedony Angel lovers out there. Andy Hallett passed away last night after a five year battle with heart disease. Hallett is best known for his portrayal of muse Lorne on the Buffy spin-off.

Suddenly I don’t feel like singing at this point in time. Hallett, a fan favorite, from the show will surely be missed.

Let this not be the trinity beginning to turn again, last time we lost Khan, the original Number Six and Lost in Space’s robot. It really better not be the Whedon trinity or I think there will be mass hysteria in the streets.

We will miss you Andy. Join with me on your ..read more

Morpheus is not pleased

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t this the reason why the machines took such a liking to harvesting human beings in The Matrix?  Perhaps we shouldn’t be advertising ourselves as little power supplies.

Speaking of that flick, I’d enjoy a book chronicling exactly what the first matrix was like.  The one that was supposedly a utopia.  Would a machine’s view of human nirvana be a satirical world where it’s all fatty foods and American Idol or would they take a more nuanced, cultured ..read more
