untitled2This just makes me smile.  The telling of how the classic Cylon was re-imagined for the flashback sequences in Razor.  But mainly it’s the love that went into it that makes me grin.

For all of us, Razor was one of the visual effects highlights of working on this show; the schedule was grueling and we probably put in more hours in the studio than we did at home, but you know what? We were giggling the whole time. Sure, we had been working with Vipers and Raiders and Cylons for a few years already, but this time was different – this time is was the Vipers and Raiders and Cylons we grew up with – the ones that inspired us to become visual effects artists in the first place. I’m sorry, did I say we were working with Cylons? I think I meant playing.

All of the VFX in Razor had that feeling of an inside joke. Maybe all will be explained more fully in the last few episodes, but if that’s the only place we see retro-cylons, then I’ll be cheesed.

Even though I do prefer the newer style, I really want to see the classic Centurions in another episode… or the new movie… or in Caprica…
