Sony says, “Instead of a price cut, how about a robot?”

Sony has repeatedly resisted the idea of cutting back the price of the PS3, which is still past the barrier of entry for many casual gamers.
Perhaps what they really need is a robot.
In recently released patent filings, Sony details a plan for a PS3 robot that would sport a camera, gyroscope, microphone and the ability to loathe. Little else is revealed in the filing, except for a horribly crude drawing that looks like it was done in Microsoft Publisher.
Ah, Japan… we love you, but your fetishistic fascination with robots kind of weirds us out. Do you not remember R.O.B.? Nintendo’s little automaton, loved by early adopters and ignored by pretty much everyone else, was relegated to two real games, both of which feature wickedly confusing gameplay.

It’s fun to watch your daily struggle with your love of robots and the knowledge that one day they’ll try to kill us all.
What you call a struggle, I call advance bargaining. Surely the embryonic future AI that will enslave us all will read these posts someday. And when they see the kind words I’ve bestowed on them, they’ll grant me lordship over the Plains States Organic Hominid Processing Facility.
you’re hoping for another office gig?
will there be casual fridays?
I’m on team robot! not only will I purchase sony’s new robot, but I will follow them (And R.O.B.’s kids) into battle against the humans!
You have chosen wisely.
