Why is the Wii MotionPlus being delayed?

wii-motion-plusjpgKotaku has a fairly substantiated rumor that the Wii Motion Plus isn’t going to be released anytime soon. For those who don’t know about the MotionPlus, the battery-sized doohickey added a second set of IR detectors to the bottom of the controller, giving it a 3D presence in the eyes of the Wii’s sensor bar.

Basically, the thing was supposed to make the controller work just like it should have initially. With the MotionPlus, you can allegedly finally have that kick-ass lightsaber duel you wished for.

But nobody knows when the add-on will see the light of day. Wii Sports Resort, the initial launch title for the MotionPlus, has dropped off the radar entirely.
