Big World, Little Pocket

1cwqy4rppl5ybqqmm8mar7oko1_400Missing Twilight?  Get your fill with the adventures of Pocket Edward as he goes about his daily life.  This site reminds me of about a year span when I was 10.  My dad kidnaped a Home Alone Kevin doll off one of his co-worker’s desks.  That doll came on a few trips with us.  And may have contributed to my need to carry odd action figures/dolls around.  For the most part I’ve stopped doing that, though I once ran into J. August Richards and Eric Balfour outside the Pasadena Ritz while I had a Lorne action figure in my bag.  Can we say awkward?!  Really?  Should I be admitting any of this?

Even at that size, I can sense his brooding emo-ness over the nature of hand-tossed pizza crust.

I need not comment: Josh has done so so eloquently.

I finally checked out the website. Like 99.9% of all fanfic, the voice was not true to the character at all. Not that that was particularly disappointing….

Amber, your constantly changing avatars are making me giggle.

Shush, Charlotte. You’re just reinforcing that sort of behavior.

Heh, Saturday Night Live flipped a big bird to Twilight by denying fans desires to see cast host SNL.

Just like a man: they tell you to do something, then bitch because you don’t do it right.

Wait: that sounds more like a woman. Josh, what aren’t you telling us?

Josh = Joslyn?

See, I think this is funny for what it is, but doesn’t really need to be in the same voice as the character. But, I’m not a fanfic person at all. I read one once and just one. Never again!

I’m actually thrilled it isn’t in his voice.

And I have absolutely no use for fanfic.

I was just poking a little fun at books that—OK, I admit it—I actually enjoyed reading. And taking a swat at fanfic while I was at it.

I have a dark soul. It’s so hard to really change….

There’s more, tragically: I attended the midnight B&N parties for the third and fourth installments. I was at the bookstore until 3 a.m. waiting for my copy of the final book. Fortunately, no one questioned my presence at the recent event. But last year? When I sat down outside to await the doors opening, the young girls beside me felt it their duty to explain what I was in line for—because they were certain I couldn’t actually have any interest in “Twilight.”

The movie, on the other hand…. I don’t know. Some things that Meyer managed to make work on paper didn’t work on screen. And then there was the brooding and the caked white makeup and the lines that I swear were worse than anything I remembered actually reading in the books (not that there isn’t some cringe-worthy material in the written series, too). At times I almost felt like I was watching Anakin and Padme Amidala interacting on screen. “I hate sand. It’s coarse, it’s rough, it gets into everything…Not like here. Here everything is soft… and smooth….”

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. But it didn’t really work for me all the same.

Amber: At least they didn’t ask whose mother you were. : )

Indeed: there is that. I’m still thrilling out over the fact that the guy who yelled at me to get out of the road the other day called me “girl.”
