TV by the Numbers has posted a blog about conjecture of the possibility of Firefly returning for another run on FOX. And if not that, perhaps a couple of Serenity movies by Universal on NBC/SyFy.
All I have to say is stop saying things like this. All it does is get my hopes up. I want more Serenifly but have come to acceptance that it will not be coming in live form any longer.
And then you go and talk about industry insiders and people over at FOX and what they have been saying. Stop ..read more

I didn’t get a chance to watch T4 until last night. So sue me. Here are some observations from a show that really wasn’t that bad if you go into it assuming McG is going to McPiss all over it.
– The movie suffers from the same bullet problem that Battlestar had. So these resistance fighters are fighting terminators. Exclusively. Why would you even carry guns if you are using projectiles that barely harm machines? John Connor emptied his whole Colt magazine into a T600 and it hardly lost an electrode. Either develop bullets that pierce metal or just leave the extra bulk at home.
– Has there ever been a movie ..read more
In the words of Ruth-Ann – Denna, that’s all you need to know. (And bridges, they’re pretty awesome too…)
I concur. It’s important to find a man that can make a good bridge, if you know what I mean.
Ruth-Ann and I will now share our favorite moments from the first season. It is our duty, it is our quest.
Makey-Outys – ok, so they only made out in the forest that one time, but there was that OTHER time where the seeker and the confessor from the past possessed their bodies so they could totally almost do it… And the other time in the lake.
Denna – her whole attitude, she knows her ..read more
Damien Walters has the best free running show reel that I’ve seen. Okay, okay. I haven’t seen tons of them, but I did go through a Ninja Warrior phase which led to a couple of weeks of youtubing free running reels. But this guy even strips while ..read more

Being at home with my parents this weekend brings my childhood back in waves of nostalgia. I ran across a bunch of my old books (which will make for great future blog posts), including some old notebooks and scratch paper from my early computing days.
That I emerged on the other side of childhood as well-versed in both knowledge and the rampant commercialism of the 80s is more a testament to the hours I spent glued to my Commodore 64 than anything I learned while on the government dole. From the day we bought it in 1980 (it cost something akin to the GDP of Djibouti), to the day we replaced ..read more
I know, I’m a little behind the times, but to be fair, I was in the room when he actually announced these, so I feel I get props somehow, right? No? Well frak….
I went to the Roxy concert last year and it was epic. Before the concert and in between acts they projected different action shots with just the music playing, it’s amazing to see the space battles with just the soundtrack. His brother’s band played first, and included a galacticized rock song that originally was going to be played in the background and Joe’s bar (later they ended up using a song of Bear’s fiance/ethereal voice of battlestar). Never ..read more

I was sitting around just letting my brain wander today. It happens sometimes. Then it decides to get lost, but eventually finds its way home. This time it came back dragging bad guys. And not just any bad guys, but cartoon bad guys from like Saturday morning cartoons and USA’s Cartoon Express.
Honestly, I think I have spent more time trying to figure out what triggered the thought track rather than the actual villains who would make up my top five list. Maybe it was GI Joe, but I really don’t know. Actually the more I think about it I am getting a little scared.
So before my head spins and I ..read more

If you grew up in Soutwest Washingon, you’re probably familiar with Yard Birds. The small franchise was an integral part of the community, sponsoring youth activities such as soccer, baseball, and basketball. It seems like everyone shopped there, hung out there, watched movies there until they closed in 1995. Two graduates of Centralia High School have chronicled the rise and fall of Yard Birds in the upcoming documentary, Skinny and Fatty: The Story of Yard Birds. The documentary will be shown and sold locally. Here’s to hoping it’s showing during one of my two planned visits to Washington this summer. www.yardbirdshistory.com
To demonstrate how connected Yard Birds was to our ..read more

After last week’s discussion about musicals, I set out to steer the conversation back on track with a post about the best sci-fi musicals. But I had to do a hard abort on that one when I ran across “Star Wars: The Musical.” This little number deserves a post all its own.
Excuse me?
“What?” you might ask. “They made a musical out of ‘Star Wars?’ Why haven’t I seen it?”
Obviously, doing a live performance of anything bearing Lucas’ name isn’t exactly as easy as bulls-eyeing womp rats — thousands of pounds of attorney must be retained to even mention the name “Star Wars” without being sued. In fact, I’m ..read more
