Meet the phone that sucks power out of the air

OK, so it’s just a prototype. And it can’t produce enough power to sustain itself. For now.
Disclaimers aside, this Nokia proof-of-concept phone showcases 10 pounds of cool in a 5-ounce sack. The phone has a wide-band receiver which harvests wireless waves out of the air, and turns them into (you guessed it) go juice. Whether you’re in range of a wi-fi signal, or just pulling useless TV or AM radio signals out of the air, any wave is food to this phone.
Now, Nokia can only pull 5 milliwatts from the air right now, but it’d be fairly easy to raise that to 20 milliwatts — enough to keep the battery from draining while not engaged in a call.
Expect the technology to hit your phone within 3 to 5 years.

Remember a few years back when they said cell phone signal gave you cancer..? How do you think those people are going to feel about this one?!
I should think they’ll love it. After all, this phone eats radio waves, so there’s less cancer to go around.
