22 versions of the Mario theme song

The consistently ‘on’ team of hipsters at CollegeHumor have posted a video playlist containing 22 versions of the Mario theme. If you scoff at such an overwrought list of cover tunes on a lousy song, you’ll be surprised.
I sat through each one — it’s a fascinating study in variations on a theme. You’ll find yourself hopelessly addicted, just as I was.
Even if you don’t sit through the whole list, click through to the first one — the theme song played with a remote control car and a train of glass bottles. And then you’ll want to watch the beatbox flute player. And the syrupy goodness of the piano/flute duet. And the medley at the end.
Oh, hell, just watch the whole thing. To get you started, I’ve posted the first one below. For the whole list, you’ll have to check out the site.

That rocks!!!
Hey Josh good going on your continuation of video game music coverage. After Scott and I did our video I am starting to see the plethora of the video game music spectrum. I honestly had no idea how popular video game music is, especially the Super Mario Bros theme. The thing is– Super Mario Bros came out in ‘85. The fact that the game and the music are still popular today (maybe even more these days) is simply amazing!
Oh yeah. Video game music is addicting and now there are touring shows that coordinate with local symphonies for an elaborate production. Its what you get when you mix geeks and classical music.
