Not too long ago Dragonmount and Tor Books ran a contest to choose these little things called Storm Leaders. And what these Storm Leaders are supposed to do is to lend their help to some local book signings by author Brandon Sanderson for the release of The Gathering Storm.
And what do you know? They go ahead and accept a lowly man named Jason from GeekSix to help out with the signings. And in the process get to meet Sanderson, get my book signed (like that wasn’t going to happen anyways), and give out lots of free schwag from Tor to the other fans who are waiting in line to see Sanderson.
As you may know, Sanderson was selected to finish out epic fantasy series The Wheel of Time. The first 11 books of the series were written by Robert Jordan who passed away two years ago. There was supposed to be one final book at the time of Jordan’s death but as Sanderson finished it, it turned into three books.
If this was to be one book, that was going to be a beast to turn the pages.
The Gathering Storm is set to be released on October 27. And to this point, fans who cannot wait can get through at least the first two chapters if they want.
- The prologue is available as an eBook on a variety of platforms.
- The first chapter is available to read on Tor’s website or a .pdf on Amazon.
- The second chapter is available in audio format through Tor’s website as well.
So my turn at being a Storm Leader? November 2, 6:30 pm. Sam Weller’s Bookstore in beautiful downtown Salt Lake City. It should be fun to reconnect with a fandom I have been away from for some time.
