BarterTown – The Nerdiest Band in the West

So my band is playing a gig next week.  We were asked to get pictures together for the one sheet.  This made us all giggle awkwardly cause we’re nerdy and it’s the only way we know how to giggle.

We’ve made attempts at this in the past.  There was the traditional “at the folk festival and man it’s hot” shot

Then we tried to do the modern rock band thing where we all look cool in that one direction.  This was taken in the parking lot of my friend’s dad’s warehouse.  He lets my friend throw music festivals there every once in a while.  There were a whole buncha experimental and indie rock bands, hot dogs, and us.  (Ooo, and see the scion in the background?  Why yes, it did fit 4 people, a fiddle, an upright base, a hammered dulcimer, a chair and a guitar.  I love you cylon scion!)

So now that we were officially going to do an official show, we had to get for serious in our band picture taking.  This is what we ended up with.

The image was a little darker than we wanted, so Peter (the mandolin player) had one of his coworkers lighten it up.  While he worked on it he commented on how he couldn’t tell if we were a band or a MMORPG guild.

I think we have succeeded in our quest.

We play modern American string music, we used to be fairly bluegrass, but now do mostly our teacher’s compositions. We’ll put video from the concert up soon :D
