I know I’ve written more than a few posts on Mass Effect. But, in my defense, it was the best game I’ve played in more than a decade. There was more emotion than Fallout 3, offered more player choice than any of the Half-Life series, and much less linear than Doom 3.
The folks at Bioware have managed to scratch my sci-fi itch in a way I haven’t felt since I played “Sentinel Worlds” back in the mid ’80s. To my gameplay tastes, it was as close to perfection as I’ve ever played.

My fabulous sisters have out done themselves again when it comes to Christmas time/Nerdy Present time. What to give the offspring that has everything? Why, business cards of course – superhero business cards, and badges, and the bane of every superhero – paperwork.
The best part of the evening was when my youngest nephew – who’s name starts with an “S” protested that his name was spelled wrong on his manila envelope, an envelope that read “Top Secret.” Ah, to laugh at youth.

I was having a conversation with a friend the other day about the scarcity of serious movies based on video games. Not serious in a drama vs. comedy sort of way, but a movie made to be a great movie, not to appease gamer fan boys. So I looked up the Wiki page on movies culled from video games and… there are zero real efforts to make a bonafide piece of film from a game. I don’t get why this is.
