Trimming the tree with geekery.

This year at Thanksgiving my Mom announced that she was getting all new coordinating Christmas tree ornaments.  There was much unspoken sadness amongst my siblings, but we nodded and smiled when she showed us her new oranaments while shopping the next day.  Things didn’t look quite right as we decorated until she said, “That’s enough of those.  Now, let’s fill in with our favorite ornaments.”  Yay!  Apparently that was her plan all along, but she forgot to mention it to the rest of us.  We eagerly started pulling out the ornaments from our childhoods, along with our favorite geeky ones.  Sadly, since my parents moved right after Christmas last year, there are a few that we weren’t able to located which included my Witchblade ornaments.  I have hope for next year though.  Merry Christmas!

Too freakin’ cool! Our tree is decked out with geek ornaments as well. Where did you find the Hellboy ornament!?

I’m not sure when/where that Hellboy came from. My Dad got it probably 5 or 6 years ago. I’ll ask him.

Don’t worry Kiki, I know where my Witchblade ornament is and it is proudly hanging on my Christmas tree.

Yay! for your Witchblade ornament not suffocating in a box somewhere. Boo! that you’re not here for Christmas. :(

Thanks to this article, I’m now worried that when my mother moved house a couple years back, we may have lost the half of Starfleet that resided in our tree every year.

I have an Angel ornament–not to be confused with an angel ornament–someone gave me years ago. I think I’ll send it your way. :) It creeps me out: I really don’t need Angel’s head and shoulders hanging on my tree.

Did I mention he has no arms? An Angel bust it is. Ubercreepy it is as well.

Amber, that is creepy and awesome all rolled into one.

David, my parents are still in the half and half stage of moving. My brother and his wife reside in the house my parents moved from, so some random things like ornaments never made the move. Maybe the Borg assimilated your fleet of ornaments?

The cool thing about geek ornaments is that you can make just about any action figure type of toy into an ornament. My brother-in-law has a smurf tree. He put hooks on his pvc smurf collection.

I’ll have to do a post on the Christmas presents my sister had her kids make for everyone this year. They “doctored” up some TMNT pvc figures and then added a hook to hang them. All sorts of awesome. *two kicks*

The TMNT doctored ornaments are awesome! I have to say that Ali and I got two of the best. One is Donatello in a Batman mask and cape which hangs from a grappling hook and the other is Michelangelo with a plate of sushi. But if I had to choose may favorite it would be the one you got, especially now that I know what it is supposed to be. Colin is the coolest kid! :)
