Action figures they haven’t made yet but should

It seems like every character has an action figure these days, but there’s a few that I would snatch up in a second if only someone would make them. Preferably I would like these to be well sculpted 6″ figures from a company like Diamond Select, NECA or Mezco (and not some crappy 3 1/2″ version from Hasbro), but since no one has done them yet, I’ll just have to dream till then.

My wife's Hicks figure is very lonely and dreams of this all day long.

Ellen Ripley

The one thing that has alluded Alien collectors for the past 30 years is the lack of a great Ripley figure. Yes, she’s already been made into a comically bad Kenner figure, almost 10 years after Aliens came out, and a super-expensive and badly sculpted 12″, but not a nicely sculpted 6″. Hell, McFarlane came out with a really nice Hicks figure several years ago, even though it really doesn’t look much like Michael Biehn. One of sci-fi cinema’s greatest heroines deserves a great action figure. And my wife won’t stop bugging me until she has an awesome Ripley figure. So please, someone make it happen.

Never thought I would ever want a Tim Allen action figure until I saw this movie.

Galaxy Quest

Speaking of Sigourney Weaver — who wouldn’t want a 6″ Gwen DeMarco adorning their shelf? Or a John Quincy Taggart, aka Jason Nesmith? They could do a series of retro Mego figures of the characters as they appeared in the fictional 80’s TV show. As popular as the underrated sci-fi comedy has gotten over the last 10 years, these figures would sell out in a heart beat.

Firefly web

If they make a Wash figure, please refrain from sticking a spike through him.

Firefly

We’ve been graced with less than stellar small figurines of Mal, Jayne and River — but nothing worthy of posing on our shelves next to our antique ray guns. With Firefly’s growing fan base and disposable income, a wealth of riches is just waitin’ to be had by a toy company willing to take the risk.

I want these guys wearing real miniature potato sacks, by god!

Troll 2

The movie so bad it’s good and also has a large, tight-knit fanbase that would proudly declare their allegiance to the 1989 cult hit with a desk full of Troll 2 figures. Just think: A talking Michael Waits that yells out “You can’t piss on hospitality!” or an Arnold that says “Ohhhh MY God!” that can be turned into a mutated ficus tree? Or a multipack with three different goblins to adorn your house plants? The possibilities are endless.

Stephen Colbert

Why has no one made an action figure of him yet?! Comedy Central should really cash in on this while they can. They could do a 12″ talking version and a 6″ version that comes with a desk, Captain America shield and a pet bald eagle that you can perch on his arm like Shipwreck’s pet Polly.

This is one lady who'll make damn sure her figure isn't a peg warmer.

Betty White

With her resurgence in popularity, she would sell. Best thing of all, you really wouldn’t need accessories because she’s effin’ Betty White! Okay, maybe a purse, Snickers bar and her gun from Lake Placid would be cool.

Yes to all of the above, especially Ripley, Galaxy Quest and Firefly.

there was a Ripley figure that came with a die cast power loader but it was kind lacking in any great detail and the bishop torn in half fig that came with it was actually out of scale and made completely of resin.

I believe Hot Toys also put out some very VERY nice Alien figures of some of the other cast however they were also very VERY expensive, you could aquire those though a Sideshow retailer.

The six inch figs that came out for Firefly were atrocious. Dark Horse puts out some three inch pvc figs that aren’t the cats meow but affordable if your looking for something to put on your computer desk.

Diamond Select and Pegasus games are putting out some Galaxy Quest memorabilia FINALLY, ship, communicator and “ray gun” is all I’ve seen thus far. Take a look around your local comic or hobby shop you should be able to track on down. I’d definitely like to see an AF line though.

Betty White? Come on… :P

Dan, I do remember Hot Toys churning up something Alien related as well.

After my Star Wars/GI Joe days of figure collecting had calmed down, all I wanted was a Marvel figure of Thor. I found one. Then I was too afraid to take it out of the plastic to put on my desk. I need help. I can imagine the day when my son wants to “take a look” at the Star Wars collection.

Jason: By Odin’s Beard you must open your Thor! Or at the very least buy another one when you get a chance.

Action Figures and Dan: yeah, the I was refering to the Hot Toys Ripley when I mentioned the over priced 12″. I didn’t care for the sculpt of it, but I’m sure if Hot Toys made a new one, it would be spectacular. They have really gone above and beyond on the sculpts of their latest figures. Still, they’re not very affordable. Just give me a 6″ Ripley for about $15 to $20 and I’ll be happy.
