Well friends, St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching. This is the one holiday where my family does not hide candy throughout the house and have the small children collect it. Here’s how I celebrate.
1. Darby O’Gill and the Little People: I’ve watched this movie every year of my life. Growing up we weren’t allowed to watch it any other time, but St Patrick’s Day. Please note that you must do the leprechaun dance for the Fox Hunt song.
2. All Food Must Be Green or Irish: Corned beef and cabbage, green eggs and ham, Irish soda bread, Lucky Charms, green grilled cheese sandwiches, green oatmeal, ..read more

Ever wonder where to get your own Precious? Turns out the One Ring used in this episode is from our friends at Badali Jewelry. It just makes me smile to know that we can each have our own Precious to love and take out only occasionally when we go to the park to re-enact our favorite scenes from the ..read more

Finally, a review of Brave New World’s Valentine’s Day Ge3k Singles Night. I convinced a couple of friends to attend with me. Adam’s a Comic-Con attending, graphic novel writing, certified geek. Whereas Whitney, not so much.
We arrived at Brave New World to be greeted by my friends Therese and Michael. We met on the Browncoat Cruise, so our friendship has been rooted in the geeky. Therese gave us the grand tour of Brave New World and introduced us to Portlyn and Atom, who as the owners of Brave New World, are responsible for bringing geeks together. All sorts of geeks in all sorts of age ranges were ..read more
I was at the movies the other day. I’ll admit, I was watching Valentine’s Day. I anticipated a Love Actually rip off, which it was in a lot of ways. Anyways, that’s beside the point. The previews start and all of a sudden there’s screaming and gleeful sounds, sighing, and cheering as the Sex and the City 2 trailer rolled. I started laughing. I don’t really get the whole Sex and the City phenomenon. I’ve seen a few episodes here and there, but that’s about it. It just illustrates the point of people geek out over just about everything. And that makes me ..read more

My Gramma taught me how to knit, though I’m not very good at it. These patterns are enough to make me pick up my needles again. Cylon Centurion and Starbuck’s Mandala. Pattern direction on the other side of the link.

I recently stumbled upon a friend of a friend’s blog and read about their social experiment using “leisure cards.” It’s an interesting and funny read. You should click on the link to check it out.
The idea is that we tend to broadcast so much of our personal life on the internets via facebook, twitter, and the like and are contrastingly becoming more and more insular in regards to face to face interactions. I’ve met a few of my neighbors in the 3 months I’ve lived in my new place.
There’s the girl downstairs that introduced herself one evening by knocking on my backdoor. She ..read more

Brave New World Comics in Santa Clarita, California is putting on a Ge3k Singles Night on Friday, February 12th. I’ve always wondering if these types of events are interesting and fun or just down right painful. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, please check it out. I may end up there ..read more

Yep, you heard me correctly. I said GEEKY LINGERIE. I’ve been thinking outside of the geek sex box, you know that box that contains the Slave Leia costume, and scoured the web for the best in geeky unmentionables.
