Revolutionizing how I watch TV

Jason

Well its almost been a year since I dropped television. Well television in the normal sense that is. No cable, no satallite and I rely most on Netflix, hulu and The WB online. And forget television the old fashioned way since I still only get Telemundo and some random religion channel.

Lately I have been hanging out up in some mountain resorts and condos over the weekend, just relaxing, shedding the stress and listening to some great music at Deer Valley with the Utah Symphony. And when the lights would go down and I snuggled into bed I would flip on the good ole tele which was everpresent in every room.

A Wheaton-Day Romancification

Tuesday
10:29 pm

We here at GeekSix are fans of The Guild. Its no secret. We even recently put the cassette player on repeat when the season four music video Game On was released (which is climbing the iTunes charts).

But then I ran across this today. A certain artified image of a certain Wil Wheaton and a certain Felicia Day. I don’t know if I have more words. I just have to ..read more

To boldly go…with a new Star Trek series

Jason
Saturday

I am going to admit something. I am going to ask that you refrain from throwing things at me. And no I will not turn in my Geek Card at the door…

I am not all that huge of a Star Trek fan.

It is probably the Star Wars fan in me. Too much of an internal struggle to make the two worlds live together peacefully in my brain. But it might also have to do with the three Star Trek Club meetings I went to in 7th grade and all they did was bitch back and forth across the room about whether The Original Series or The Next Generation was better.

Weekend Diversion

Jason
Friday
8:30 pm

Its been awhile since we all had a good weekend diversion to give us a couple of minutes of laughs and chuckles.

But this week I ran across a couple of things I had to share in case you missed them.

  • Double Sun Power
  • Double Rainbow Power
  • It is just that good to not make sure you these stored in a corner of your brain somewhere.

The first joy is a conglomeration of Old Spice commercials starring Terry Crews who you have seen in everything from Bruce Almighty to Balls of Fury to Everybody Hates Chris. All I know is that whoever the director is, he needs to share the ..read more

Why I still miss Veronica Mars

    Jason
    Monday
    8:00 am

Oh Veronica Mars what a supernova you were. Here one year and gone the next.

I am sure you all know how much I lament the loss of Firefly after a short one season. But not too far below Firefly sits that sassy, sparkplug of a teenage detective Veronica Mars.

Granted the final third season was a bit stilted as it tried to keep ahead of the cancellation axe, but those first two season were dark, engaging and full of twists and turns we never saw coming.

Every once in a while I tend to rewatch television. Some good, some bad, some I don’t want anyone to know I actually watch. I have ..read more

Holiday memories: The 4th in North Carolina

    Jason
    Sunday
    10:40 pm

So here I sit inside my house. In Utah. Where all the big fireworks took place yesterday because no one is allowed to do anything here on a Sunday I guess.

But from the upper balcony I can hear the whirl and whiz of the store bought variety of fireworks mixed with the occasional big bang of the illegal contraband that someone sneaked in from probably Wyoming. Yes Wyoming. Home of real fireworks and beer for those who live in Utah.

But it also has me thinking back on July 4th’s of the past. And for some reason one keeps popping to mind. A truly geekrific trip in all.

See a couple years ..read more

    Bring on my e-comics

Given the client base for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and their fellow comic book publishers, you would think they would embrace the trends and technologies their readers are so quick to latch on to.

Historically however they have always just stood in the wading pool, letting their products and superheroes sell themselves. Their biggest tool to generating sales are the mega-events we have become accustomed to. You know, Civil War, Blackest Night, Secret Invasion, those guys. Once in a while a certain writer or artist will generate some sales. But in the long run there has been no revolutionary poptech advancements in the comic book industry.

    Life at the Dollar Cinema

    Jason
    Tuesday

So point blank. When someone says dollar movies what immediate comes to mind?

For me its sticky floors, outdated trailers, bad seats and a copy of the film that seems to have one too many scratches.

But for me it also brings back the memories of good times growing up in San Antonio, TX. The “Dirty Dollar” as we all dubbed it, was the place to be on a Friday and Saturday night. Its where any teenager with a car and not much else in his pocket would go for entertainment. My friends were so frugal that they would walk in, dumpster dive for a beverage and popcorn container, and proceed to ..read more
