Geeky Clean!

Autumn
Monday
6:47 pm

There are exciting things going on at my favorite soap website (and yes, I do have a favorite soap website–how can I not love a girl who has made it her mission to eradicate that 3rd-day-in-the-convention-hall funk using the positive reinforcement of RPG dice?)  Geeky Clean has made Cthulhu soap.  I know, the horror, right?

But just when you thought your were going to go insane from the awesome, she also has new Eye of Sauron soap.  If that doesn’t make me excited and quest filled every time I hop in the shower I’m not sure what will.

I had a virtual sit down with Geeky Cleans proprietor to talk about her ..read more

A Wheaton-Day Romancification

Jason
Tuesday
10:29 pm

We here at GeekSix are fans of The Guild. Its no secret. We even recently put the cassette player on repeat when the season four music video Game On was released (which is climbing the iTunes charts).

But then I ran across this today. A certain artified image of a certain Wil Wheaton and a certain Felicia Day. I don’t know if I have more words. I just have to ..read more

Drink and Draw Social Club Book Release

Christy
Sunday
6:59 pm

Last night the Los Angeles Drink and Draw Social Club had a release party for Vol 2 of their compilation books.  “Following up on the popularity of the ever-growing phenomenon known as Drink and Draw Social Club – showcasing illustrations rendered strictly in bars and restaurants, where the pints and pencil shavings make for good times and even better art – this volume contains even more scribblings and scratchings from a large and diverse group of talented artists.”  So fun!  The back of Meltdown Comic was turned into a gallery of drunken goodness.  And the Grilled Cheese Truck was parked outside.  I was equally ..read more

Going to Comic-Con? I’m going with you!

Wednesday
10:46 pm

Good news! I’ve figured out a way to get over my despondency over missing out on yet another San Diego Comic-Con: Take me with you.

Despite my repeated carlisthenics (my patented exercise regimen), I’m still unable to contort into your carry-on. But don’t despair, my would-be roomie — I’ve discovered a way we can still see the unique sights and unforgettable smells of thousands of geeks packed into tight spaces in the baking San Diego sun.

I’ve assembled your very own Josh kit!

Print out your Geek6 Josh Facsimile (he likes card stock), mount it on a popsicle stick or ruler, and you’re set to go! Too lazy to print it ..read more

Painting the Trench Run

Autumn
Wednesday
8:23 pm

I came up with an idea to paint the wire frame animation of the x-wing dropping it’s payload into the thermal exhaust port, and when I was framing through the DVD I thought “Hey, the canvas came in a three pack, I might as well make it complete!”

I loved how muted and simple the briefing animation was, especially the last painting signifying the explosion.

So I started out with the triangle of doom.

Added the most ridiculously modern painting of a torpedo I’ve ever attempted.

And threw in a little explosion action to top it off.

It turns out the two paintings I wasn’t planning on doing I like the most.  What do you ..read more

If You’ve Ever Wanted to be A Dread Pirate Roberts

Autumn
Tuesday
7:04 pm

SQUEEEEEE!!!! I’ve always been torn between wanting to be the first female Dread Pirate Roberts, or just making out with the current Wesley version of him…

Somehow I think having a replica of his sword will not help me in my decision.

BUT! The same company, Factory Entertainment is making a Inigo Montoya sword.  Obviously so my husband and I can recreate the best.sword fight.ever.

Though I’m a little worried of what would happen if I fought left handed.  I’m kinda a bumbling bookish sort of warrior.  Don’t let me tell you that story about the cannon and my right big toe, people might make fun of ..read more

For the Overly Curious Star Wars Fan

Autumn
Monday
9:16 pm

I was doing some research on the Star Wars wire frame graphic (don’t ask) and I stumbled upon this little gem from ‘77 on youtube.  It’s a step by step tutorial of sorts on how they did the graphics for the Death Star Attack briefing. ..read more

Macbook Decals

Christy
Thursday
3:31 pm

These decals from Crafty Gal Decals are almost enough to persuade me to buy a Macbook.  Well the decals, AND the easy movie making (the Flip software just isn’t cutting it) AND the lure of finally getting the video chat to work on AIM…

Here are a few of my favorite ..read more

Fleet of Toasters

Autumn
Wednesday
9:55 pm

I’ve been wanting to do this t-shirt for a while, but hadn’t the means until I teamed up with the illustrious Jon Martin of Shirtoid fame.  Whenever anyone would say “flying toasters” the mid 80s After Dark apple screensaver would pop into my head.  You know, the one with the flying toasters.  Thus a hybrid was created (no, not THAT kind of hybrid!).

Autumn Has a Destiny….and it’s in the Laundry Room

Christy
Wednesday
10:42 am

Yep, that’s right.  Autumn is destined to do laundry.  And now she only has to look up to be reminded of that.  This is a pictorial highlight of a geeky sleepover Autumn and I had where we painted Starbuck’s mandala on the wall of Autumn’s laundry room.  Please keep in mind that we listened to Battlestar Galactica music to help channel destiny into our painting strokes.  I may have also gone one step further (since really, I have no real artistic ability…really, just ask Autumn) to channel the help of the one true Starbuck and painted without my pants on.  Also, I’m pretty sure that in years to come when ..read more
