DragonCon, that is. After not sleeping at all and heading to the airport at an unearthly hour, checking a bag that weighed exactly 50 lbs, declining to bump to an 11:30 pm flight, I am now in a giant security line waiting.
On a side note, it was my now completed Clara costume that resulted in not sleeping. Don’t worry, pictures to come. ..read more

But let’s leave out all that talk about reality, what’s real, what’s a dream, and what really is Cobb’s totem. Let’s talk about all the great or not so great stuff that gets overshadowed by the intricately ambiguous ..read more

SQUEEEEEE!!!! I’ve always been torn between wanting to be the first female Dread Pirate Roberts, or just making out with the current Wesley version of him…
Somehow I think having a replica of his sword will not help me in my decision.
BUT! The same company, Factory Entertainment is making a Inigo Montoya sword. Obviously so my husband and I can recreate the best.sword fight.ever.
Though I’m a little worried of what would happen if I fought left handed. I’m kinda a bumbling bookish sort of warrior. Don’t let me tell you that story about the cannon and my right big toe, people might make fun of ..read more

Alright, here’s the deal. I chopped off my hair and now have all sorts of short haired options for cosplay. Yep Josh, I said cosplay. I’m just calling it what it is. You can vote and I’ll costume the winning character. But here are my terms and conditions.
I, GeekSix Christy, will costume the winning character. I reserve the right to choose the time frame for completion of said costume. I also may or may not wear the costume at DragonCon, but will provide photographic evidence of me wearing said costume.
Please click here to view character and costume choices. I will also take write-ins on the ballot.

I have an addiction to nerdy t-shirts. I savor them like others would a fine wine. And my absolute favorite website to go to is Shirtoid, cause they take all the awesome ones and combine them into one easily browse-able place. They even have a small selection of non-t-shirt-but-still-awesome stuff, like this

I had an crisis of self the other day. I looked in the mirror, took out my knife and cut off my hair. Okay, so maybe it didn’t go quite like that. The happy result is that I now have a slew of short haired, ass kicking, game playing, cryogenically frozen girls as costuming options.
1. Starbuck: This is my favorite and since I was Starbuck for Halloween a few years back, I already have my BDUs, grey and olive drab tanks, BSG boots, and a pretty frakkin’ sweet Arrow of Apollo all on hand. In fact the last time I cut my hair short was for this Halloween costume.

Tim Gunn takes fashion seriously, and here he takes superhero fashion seriously. He discusses the danger of capes and dresses (we all learned that in The Icredibles), the width of the weave in fishnets directly translating to increase in vulgarity, and superhero porn with Alan Kistler of Crazy Sexy Geeks. While he calls Black Canary a tramp, he totally gives props to Power Girl for being less objectionable even though she has over the top cleavage because she “owns it.” That’s it. I’m starting my Power Girl costume right ..read more

As any geek girl knows, there’s only so much time you can spend wearing those Wonder Woman boots before the pain sets in on those long convention hour days. Here’s a new solution. Spare Pear. Rollable ballet flats. “SparePear is a revolutionary compact rollable/foldable pair of shoes that measures approximately 3.5 inches in length and 2 inches in diameter (when rolled).” I can’t wait to try these out at Comic-Con.
