Well friends, St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching. This is the one holiday where my family does not hide candy throughout the house and have the small children collect it. Here’s how I celebrate.
1. Darby O’Gill and the Little People: I’ve watched this movie every year of my life. Growing up we weren’t allowed to watch it any other time, but St Patrick’s Day. Please note that you must do the leprechaun dance for the Fox Hunt song.
2. All Food Must Be Green or Irish: Corned beef and cabbage, green eggs and ham, Irish soda bread, Lucky Charms, green grilled cheese sandwiches, green oatmeal, ..read more

I’m about to commit geek blasphemy. Steady the noggins of your Star Trek bobbleheads and hold your sweaty can of Amp down, because the following statement is going to rattle the very foundations of the Internet:
I saw the “TRON” teaser trailer. And I was completely underwhelmed.
Actually, more than completely underwhelmed. I thought it was cheesy. Perfunctory. Uninspired. Wipe the tears from your eyes, my friends, or let them flow and have them wash away the retro-nostalgic blindness which has clouded your eyes.
I loved the original “TRON.” The art direction was never-before-seen, and the idea was fresh. It was a stunning movie.
But it was made during a particular time ..read more
Ever wonder where to get your own Precious? Turns out the One Ring used in this episode is from our friends at Badali Jewelry. It just makes me smile to know that we can each have our own Precious to love and take out only occasionally when we go to the park to re-enact our favorite scenes from the ..read more

With the news that the industry-kickstarting game “Space Invaders” has been optioned for movie rights, we’ve decided that Hollywood has, really, REALLY, OFFICIALLY run out of ideas for movies. For reals this time, y’all.
They’ve already given every franchise possible a gritty reboot, and they’ve milked every video game franchise to boot.
So what’s left?
What about making movies out of games that were based on movies? Take all the joy of a reboot and add in pre-packaged brand appeal, and voila! Instant blockbuster.
The only problem is that some of those game-movie tie-ins were pretty tenuous and cryptic. But don’t worry, Hollywood — we’ve done all the work for you! We’ve ..read more
I was at the movies the other day. I’ll admit, I was watching Valentine’s Day. I anticipated a Love Actually rip off, which it was in a lot of ways. Anyways, that’s beside the point. The previews start and all of a sudden there’s screaming and gleeful sounds, sighing, and cheering as the Sex and the City 2 trailer rolled. I started laughing. I don’t really get the whole Sex and the City phenomenon. I’ve seen a few episodes here and there, but that’s about it. It just illustrates the point of people geek out over just about everything. And that makes me ..read more

With the immeasurable wealth I’ve acquired from penning for this site, I recently built a 6-square mile mansion in the hills of Transylvania. But I ran into a problem when trying to fill the wall-to-wall bookshelves in the Death Star-sized (and shaped) TV room. You gotta really get creative to plug all that space. So the only logical choice was to find the most ridiculous, over-packaged DVD boxed sets I could ..read more
So it’s no secret that I happen to watch a lot of tv and movies. I have a love for them, but you know how you have this really great friend and then all of a sudden you’re spending way to much time with that really great friend and you begin to suspect they’re a giant tool? It’s beginning to happen to me. There are cheats on screens both silver and plasma to make things go faster, to move the story along, or plain just bug me. So, for therapy’s sake, I’m going to tell you about them so you’ll notice them too. You’re welcome.

So one time I was in a fabric store and noticed some great faux fur that reminded me of of Tauntaun fur. Immediately I texted my buddy Malaki (check out his awesome Iron Man costume!) and was like “could you make me a Tauntaun head outta foam so I can have a Tauntaun skin rug?”
He laughed for about five minutes then said “Of course!” He presented it to me at my wedding. It’s Hothian tradition, after all.

After years of idly pandering to fans about his quest for a third movie, Vin Diesel is officially donning the shiny-eye contacts for a third Riddick film.
He’s teaming up with writer/director David Twohy for the as-yet-untitled movie. And, thankfully, the movie is looking to resemble the smaller-scale action of “Pitch Black” instead of the grandiose and watered-down nature of “The Chronicles of Riddick.”
Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a lot more badassery, and a little less of Diesel trying to play at space opera themes.

Maybe its just the culture I was raised in that led me to this point. You know the watched too much television and played too many sports culture. Which point is that you ask? The point that for some reason I cannot tear myself away from movies based on sports.
Sure if the movie is just stick out loud horrible I might only watch it once, but I will watch it. So yes I will watch The Legend of Bagger Vance without a thought in the world. Heck Tin Cup ranks up there as one of my favorite movies. And for some reason, any movie Disney has made that is related ..read more
