Action figures they haven’t made yet but should

It seems like every character has an action figure these days, but there’s a few that I would snatch up in a second if only someone would make them. Preferably I would like these to be well sculpted 6″ figures from a company like Diamond Select, NECA or Mezco (and not some crappy 3 1/2″ version from Hasbro), but since no one has done them yet, I’ll just have to dream till ..read more

My Halloween costume, and the horror it hath wrought

As most of you know, when I’m not blogging about Voltron and Firefly, I’m a journalist in an undisclosed location.

As you may not know, journalists these days can be a rather dour lot. So, when I wore my Halloween costume to the morning news meeting, most of the other editors were not amused.

Until the kindergartners came by on a newsroom tour, peering through the glass windows.

“Do it,” our government editor whispered. “Turn around.”

Bowing to peer pressure, I slowly turned around and revealed my costume through the glass to the kids.

August 6th Lunar Eclipse

There’s a penumbra lunar eclipse tomorrow night.  What’s “penumbra” you say?  Well, to be honest I don’t remember as much from my college astronomy class as I would like, so I did a little research. (see figure below)  Basically it means that the moon will enter the earth’s penumbra shadow.  This particular lunar eclipse will only slightly enter the penumbra shadow resulting in a partial eclipse of the southern hemisphere and will be fully visible from Africa, Europe, and South America.  Eastern North America will be able to see the eclipse at moonrise and Asia as it sets.

GeekSix is evolving. No more do you have to listen to just my weekly top five. Now you get to listen to the collective Geek6. That is right, each of the staff will throw down the gauntlet with what is at the top of their list. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated.

This week on The Geek6 is the staff’s favorite science fiction character. It was a pretty daunting task considering the breadth of possibilities and the selections showed that as picked ranged from literature to movies to television.
