As most of you know, when I’m not blogging about Voltron and Firefly, I’m a journalist in an undisclosed location.
As you may not know, journalists these days can be a rather dour lot. So, when I wore my Halloween costume to the morning news meeting, most of the other editors were not amused.
Until the kindergartners came by on a newsroom tour, peering through the glass windows.
“Do it,” our government editor whispered. “Turn around.”
Bowing to peer pressure, I slowly turned around and revealed my costume through the glass to the kids.

My movie-critic daughter recently went into first grade. She’s in some kind of special program for the gifted, and I’m kind of counting on my toddler son to use the family fortune to break her out someday.
But, Alliance academies aside, the tough curriculum she’s in means that she’s a long ways away from perfect scores. So any extra credit is welcome.
