Trimming the Tree with Geekery

This year at Thanksgiving my Mom announced that she was getting all new coordinating Christmas tree ornaments.  There was much unspoken sadness amongst my siblings, but we nodded and smiled when she showed us her new oranaments while shopping the next day.  Things didn’t look quite right as we decorated until she said, “That’s enough of those.  Now, let’s fill in with our favorite ornaments.”  Yay!  Apparently that was her plan all along, but she forgot to mention it to the rest of us.  We eagerly started pulling out the ornaments from our childhoods, along with our favorite geeky ones.  Sadly, since my parents moved right after Christmas last year, ..read more
