Beware of salsa cookies

Here is a pretty hilarious play on the Carmina Burana suite. “O Fortuna” to be exact. Seems someone sat down and actually interpreted the monk music and transcribed it so we can all know what exactly they are saying. Given the penchant for classical lovers here at GeekSix, I thought I would have to share this and share it now. So set aside two and a half minutes and ..read more

ABC joins Hulu lineup

Jason
Thursday
12:49 pm

My devious plan is coming together. That plan being that all my television can be viewed simply through Hulu. And now ABC has joined the fold with NBC and Fox by providing programming to view through Hulu. Now all I need is CBS, Cartoon Network and Food Network to jump on board and I can be content.

Its not that I can’t find the content elsewhere on the interwebs, it just that Hulu is so smooth and polished, it make is easy. And the best feature of all, the queue. It automatically adds new episodes and it lines it all up in a nice little package. I can watch it in ..read more

Why is Bones so good?

Jason
Wednesday
11:26 am

So today I get a sick day. Went to the doc, she said cold, not swine flu. But me being the nice guy that I am decided not to infect my workmates and stay at home. So right now I am on rest and liquids and catching up on my Hulu queue. And as I get through the queue I realize I have been watching a lot of Bones lately.

The nice thing about Hulu is that while do post the most recent episodes of the series, they are going through the first season as well. I was never able to watch the first season because I believe I was always ..read more

Firefly floating around me

Jason
Tuesday
12:41 pm

Its no secret that I consider Firefly my most favorite television show of all time. And although it is past and gone, I always enjoy running into little tidbits here and there of the show. Even more, I love them when they come clustered together. It fires up the engines and just gets me going again about Firefly and its wrongs and how it needs to come back like now!

First is a lovely t-shirt of one of Wash’s most memorable lines (and one that I use much too frequently leaving people scratching their heads). Have to give thanks to Quantum Mechanix who are always supply the Browncoats with an ..read more

Way Too Late: Street Fighter II The Animated Movie

Jason
Monday
12:59 pm

I love Netflix. And not because they get me movies in just two days. But because they have this instant watch function. And as of late, they have had some decent stuff float through what is available. Last night it was 1994’s Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie.

How did I ever not see this when it was released? After all the money I wasted on the video game in arcades and the versions for my home systems, I was addicted to the game.

And let me just tell you right now, this animated movie blows that farce of a Jean Claude movie out of the water. Sure the voice acting was ..read more

Last night’s entertainment: Cartoons

Jason
Saturday
8:17 am

I have confirmed yet again I have yet to grow up. The latest testimony to this was how I spent last night. I started off having some dinner, doing laundry and watching some of the NBA playoff basketball. Very adult right? But then as quickly as I had settled down and saddled up to the computer, I found myself in the middle of a glorious animation night. First it was GI Joe and Robot Chicken. Then from Adult Swim’s website I headed off to Cartoon Network’s website. And what was it I found? Some new episodes of Batman: The Brave and the Bold and the Transformers Animated series.

Let’s start with ..read more

GI Joe meets Robot Chicken

Jason
Friday
8:32 pm

So I was just catching up on the latest episodes of GI Joe: Resolute (if you are not watching, you need to) and stumbled on a collection of every Robot Chicken sketch dealing with GI Joe. And boy is the collection a doozy. If you are not watching Robot Chicken after watching these we may need to have a little talk.

In a past Top 5, I listed my top five cartoons of the 80s. And as such, this particular clip from that collection is my ..read more

Star Trek cereal…for real?

Jason
Friday
8:21 pm

I realize the importance of promotion. I understand that you need to get out there and have eyes see the product. After all, the more eyes you reach, the more possible buyers you will have. But as I was bumping around Albertsons yesterday looking for dinner, I ran across something that just through my mind into boggle mode. And that something? Star Trek cereal.

Now I am sure I am late to the party on this one, but really? Really? I mean really? Not only did they have an entire display of the cereal, but the store had done some very nifty laminated pictures of the original series cast and hung ..read more

Hobbits in New York

Jason
Tuesday
2:24 pm

If I ever needed a reason to go to New York before, I have one now. Radio City Musical Hall has just announced it will be hosting the Radio City Lord of the Rings Concert at the hall on October 9 and 10. It promises to be a magical, musical journey through Middle-Earth. In addition to the concert, there will also be various events linked to the concert including  the release of a new book concerning the music of The Lord of the Rings and a preview of the upcoming The Hobbit movies. Count me a jealous of those in and around the Big Apple. While I do not ..read more

Dune reboot almost a go?

Jason
Tuesday
11:44 am

Producer Kevin Misher sat down with io9 recently and chatted about the possibility of Dune rearing its blue-eyed head again. In the interview he indicated that the script is almost ready to be turned in and that this should be considered a reboot of the Frank Herbert novels.

I was tempted to put Dune on my recent Top 5 SciFi TV to be reimagined. But I just didn’t think that it would take off because of the somewhat recent SciFi Channel mini-series on the same subject.

You know, I have tried to watch the original Dune movie, I was never impressed. Matter of fact I don’t know if I actually ..read more
