I’ve been reading through a lot of old comics lately. Reading them in sequence — without the 6 weeks of delay between issues — allows you to see some things that escaped attention as a kid.
I’ve discovered that I feel really sorry for Ironhide. The character, one of the coolest in the original TV series, had the deck stacked against him in every other medium.
He was constructed as a minivan — and you just know the other Autobots gave him a hard time about that in the robo-showers.
As a toy, he had a horrible transformation sequence that rendered him into this stocky thing forced to lug around his other half ..read more

Somewhere in my parents attic lies a couple of boxes filled with all of my toys when I was a kid. Well, the ones they didn’t sell in the garage sells across the many years since I was a kid.
Well that is what they say anyways.
I am pretty sure that really means like my old rocking horse, stick pony and teddy bear of my youth. And it was all save to go to my son.
So I actually have no clue on whether or not they may have my trove of Transformers or GI Joes (the ones I didn’t melt). If they do, bonus for me and my son. If not ..read more

All this talk about 80s cartoon voices and GI Joe. I swear we should rename the offices 80sCartoonLand.com. We won’t and we love them too much, but still.
And so I was checking into how the new GI Joe movie did over the weekend in the face of horrible reviews. All in all? Over $50 million. Not too shabby.
But which checking it out Box Office Mojo has a nice little rankings of the performance of toy line movies. And the opening weekend easily put GI Joe into third place on that list behind the two recent Transformer movies.
But what is that sitting at 14? GoBots: Battle of the Rock Lords? ..read more

A few months back, I found a great G1 Transformers cartoon screen grab and made a little competition to see who could name them all. But, after I saw this auction for some original G1 comic book art, I figured I’d up the ante.
You see, the cartoon had more popular appeal than the comic, whose original art was often less consistent and recognizable given the artist rotation. In that vein, here’s a screen shot of the art up for auction — click to make it bigger — how many can you name? (I think I got all of them.)

My wife and I went and saw T:ROTF Saturday morning, and aside from a couple of great action scenes, I honestly didn’t care what was happening by the end of the movie. ..read more

I saw Transformers 2 last night. There were a couple of higlights that made up for Megan Fox’s frakked up face. Yes, yes, she’s hot, but what the hell has she done to her face? Highlight #1 – Bradford sneaking in to go the bathroom and managing to BS his way into the theater with three “manager VIPS.” Therefore negating the fact that Katie and I were waiting in a very long line. Which brings me to Hightlight #2 – Father and son walking to their place in line wearing these Bumble Bee helmets. Oh how I wish I had a picture of them. Hightlight #3 – Avatar: The ..read more
Here’s my review of the new Strawberried Peanut Butter “transformed” M&Ms. Bleh! Yep, one word. I’m not really a fan. Perhaps it’s because I love peanut butter and the strawberry is ..read more

Yeah, I’m excited for the new Transformers movie so naturally I love driving past this building on Santa Monica. However after seeing the trailer I’m starting to wonder what’s up with Megan Fox’s face? She’s definitely started to mess with it? *shake ..read more

I was sitting around just letting my brain wander today. It happens sometimes. Then it decides to get lost, but eventually finds its way home. This time it came back dragging bad guys. And not just any bad guys, but cartoon bad guys from like Saturday morning cartoons and USA’s Cartoon Express.
Honestly, I think I have spent more time trying to figure out what triggered the thought track rather than the actual villains who would make up my top five list. Maybe it was GI Joe, but I really don’t know. Actually the more I think about it I am getting a little scared.
So before my head spins and I ..read more
